Police Matters 23 Nov 09
Dear All,
A couple of things that have occurred in the Twyford area but equally valid for the Hursley and surrounding areas :
A couple of residential premises were recently targetted. At one, entry was gained, at the other entry failed probably by the occupants dog. On both occasions the rear patio doors were attacked. This may well have been as a result of the patio door lock keys being left inside the locks. It may be prudent to remove them from locks while out of the house.
Secondly we have had a few instances recently in the Twyford area of horses manes being plaited. The horses involved have generally been female cobs. This may have been an attempt to " mark " the animal for future theft. Members of Countrywatch and Horsewatch should already be aware of this from previous circulations but if you circulate in the equine community or have horses yourself, be it at stables or grazing on your own land, it is prudent to remain vigilant and check your animals frequently. Those up to no good will need to move about the area and if you see persons who you cannot account for or are acting suspiciously do alert the police. The Winchester policing district team are fully aware of these occurences and will respond to reports of suspicious activity in or around equine locations.
Please feel free to disseminate as you see fit.
Regards
Nigel Harding
