This feels like a clever technological solution looking for a problem to solve. Beware that some of your followers do not have sound on their systems and will miss out. Others read emails in public places where playing sound clips would be a nuisance. For routine messages I would much prefer text. Maybe this would be OK for very special things - a clip of the panto perhaps - but I doubt that I would bother listening routinely.
But thanks for all the good information we get already. A great service.

Richard, thanks for your post and comments are understood and noted. This was a quick test, (not meant as a replacement for the normal text service) we can use a speech to text conversation facility when posting, which will appear within the post, for those without speakers (these guys must be missing out so much from a internet experience side of things). This is new, have to say you can get a lot more out of an audio message that just text, especially if for example we got B in for a chat regarding the panto, or some other big village event. Saying this I think you are right and we should save this for the posts that will benefit from an audio cast. Thanks for taking the time to comment, that is what it is all about and wish more of our user would do the same

What next, smellovision!!! This website just gets better and better, even though I am no longer (sadly) a village person I still eavesdrop on village life and have talked about your site here in Bath as a great example of building a community spirit (not that Hursley needs much help with this)!! keep up the good work

Hi Karen, great that you are keeping in touch, hope to see you back to the village of a event soon. Think there is now a date for the panto (Jan sometime) which I am sure will be huge (saw Adam in drag at the weekend!!)
