Twyford NHW have received quite a few emails and phone calls this week from
worried residents regarding cold callers both on the door step and telephone
canvassing.
 
Apple Home Improvements is one and a security company is another claiming
they need to check on your security systems!
 
Please be extra cautious.  
Another scam that is currently happening near us is bogus traders have been
knocking on doors telling people that they will need a new aerial costing
hundreds of pounds with regard to the Digital Switchover This is simply NOT true and in most cases no new aerial is required. If it
is, the cost would be no more than £40 and should be arranged by calling.

In all cases of Cold Calling, the advice from the Police and Trading
Standards is just say NO Close the door/put the phone down.
 
Please note down who and how many people called, if they gave a name/company
name/any ID, the time and date of the suspicious call and report to the
Trading Standards Quick response team on 01962 833666 and/or the Police 101
