GITE for hire

(download)

LE MESNIL ROGUES, NORMANDY

In 2009 the gite was reconstructed from an old workshop into a two bedroomed
property, sleeping up to 6 people, decorated and comfortably furnished to a
very high standard.
The gite, which is just over an hour from Cherbourg, Caen and St Malo, is
located in a small hamlet set in beautiful Normandy countryside. There is a
restaurant in the village whilst Gavray, for day to day supplies, is just 10
minutes away. Granville, which is on the coast, is the nearest large town
with a large supermarket, shops and a wide choice of restaurants. Beautiful
sandy beaches, together with Mont S Michel and the landing beaches are all
within easy reach. For further information, brochure etc., please contact Sue North on 01962

Holiday question

We're looking to rent a cottage or apartment in the UK or France for a week
or two in the summer for a family holiday with the kids. The internet is so
vast, it's difficult to find people who have cottages to rent, who don't go
through the main booking sites. If you have somewhere, or know of someone
who does, we'd be delighted to hear from you. Any details could also be
placed on the HVI website for future visitors.

Regards
H

All Saints Church - ANNUAL MEETING

All Saints Church - ANNUAL MEETING
On Tuesday April 20th All Saints Church holds its annual meeting, in the
church, starting at 7.30pm.
At this meeting churchwardens and members of the Parochial Church Council
are to be elected, the annual accounts are presented together with an
account of the church's activities during the past year. Most importantly,
the annual meeting provides an opportunity to discuss the church's
activities and its role in the community.
The formal business will be handled as expeditiously as possible so as to
maximise the time available for less formal discussions and questions.
All residents are most welcome to attend and to vote for the two
churchwardens to be appointed this year. Only those people on the church's
electoral roll may vote for church council members.
We hope to see you there.

Help Please

Dear All,

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped at the Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday and to everyone from the local community who came along.  Despite the weather, great fun was had by all.

It was disappointing, however, that prior to the event, we had to spend considerable time asking a large group of ramblers, who decended on the school car park with a view to leaving their cars while they went hiking, to move on in order to allow parking for families attending our event.  They felt it would be acceptable to park there because the gates were open, but what is even more concerning is that the group then allowed their dogs to foul the school car park and left without cleared it up.

I would be very interested to hear from anyone who could provide me with information regarding the identity of this group as I would very much like to discuss this matter with them.

 Kind regards
Nikki Young

Community Speed Awareness Team

All

I have spoken to some traffic officers regarding this issue and they state
that this scheme is not supported by Hampshire.

I looked at this scheme and in some areas all that happens is that a letter
is sent out to offending drivers which may have the desired effect but
doesn't have the same effect as being dealt with by officers.

I have now been trained on the speed gun and will look to do a mini op in
the village in the near future once I sit down with my colleagues to sort
out dates and availability of the equipment.

Request for vigilance

Folks

On Thursday 25/03/10 Gavin and myself came across a badger carcass located in the lay-by opposite the entrance to Meredun Castle on the road to Farley.

To all casual observations this seemed to be normal road kill; however on closer inspection we found the poor animal had been cleanly decapitated with an unknown instrument and it had also suffered clear cuts to all its paws which to my eye would have inhibited the animals ability to defend itself etc and this is quite common with badger baiting (they also break the animals jaw to give the dogs more chance)

Gavin, myself and our Countrywatch officer strongly believe that this animal was subject to badger baiting and that the head has been taken as a trophy. The carcass then being dumped to look like road kill. This is clearly an unpleasant activity and I ask that you cascade to others in the locality the request for any information about unusual nocturnal activity in the area or anything plainly suspicious.

Thank you for your assistance.
